Tesla model 3 rear knuckle bushing push-pull toolset
SKU:TM3RKB
Preorder now, ships in 3 months. Application specific push/pull bushing removal toolset designed to remove OEM rubber bushings and assist in installation of our spherical bearing joint conversion on or off the car. (sold separately) The process is demonstrated in episode 15 of the YouTube build series, and you can see stills of that shown in the photo gallery here.
Robot welded, gold zinc coated heat treated steel cups have an organic shape in their open end matching the forged rough knuckle surface derived from 3D scanning the OEM knuckles. The precise cup to knuckle rough surface fitment that lets the flange side of the bearing housings seat against the knuckle flat side is produced by 3D surfacing in our CNC machine. After OEM bushing removal, the bearing housings get tapped in with a dead blow off the car (underside supported by these cups) or hand pressed into the OEM bushing locations on the car with the giant flat washer(s) by tightening the nuts into the all thread rod. the beaing housings are prepped for the job by freezing the bearing set (sold separately) for 45 minutes. Set it and forget it with loctite 680 bearing mount compound on knuckle bores and housing OD. Or at your OWN RISK for speeding install and removal for a racing agenda, you may choose to use grease on the housing and knuckle bore to speed the installation and allow for easier removal, if you damage a knuckle and want to swap the bearings into a spare knuckle. The TM3RKNUCB bearing conversion is a press fit after it warms up to room temperature so you need to work quickly. Because of the tight fit when warm, galling would compromise the ability to swap knuckles so its best to install a fresh set of housings into a fresh OEM knuckle. The toolset is tough enough to do many installations although the life of the all-thread and nuts will be shortened without or extended by using copper anti-seize regularly.
